Default GWG, and events.

By now, i'm sure most people have read FF#38, and noticed this bit: A map that accommodates 4v4 with chosen teams will indeed be part of Guild Wars. That's great in and of itself, certainly, but i'm positive we could put it to better use.
This is, of course, speculative .. I have no idea if we'll be seeing this in the next BWE, but if not, it certainly won't be long after until release. The question is, would people be interested in staging / taking part in a sort of unofficial 'tournament' solely for our community participants? The idea being that posters can form their own teams of 4, and then teams face off against each other in elimination rounds until there's only one left.

I do realize there are some complications even if we do get to try it out next BWE .. you might be able to choose your teams, but perhaps not your opponents. In that sense it might be more serviceable to set up Guilds (though it then requires larger teams .. and money.) But, details are best saved for when they can be worked out, instead of idly pondering upon them. The point is, i'm really just trying to judge interest in having some kind of events particularly for our community.
Of course - any other ideas on events or things we can do are welcome.

well, i like the idea of forming 4v4 battles.

i think they should grant some fame for each win in the 4v4 battles, but limit it to 1 fame per win. that would get some ppl interested in it from the getgo.

it would make the 4v4 area more challanging imo.
and it would bring more ppl to play it.

the gladiators arena is perfect so far, its main goal is to help you test out your newest pvp char to see its flaws and strengths.

but this new 4v4 arena sounds like fun to me.

I'm up for a GWG tourney.

But don't you think that Gaile and Arena.net owe us here at GWG for all of the excellent suggestions and countless people that we've helped to convert to our cause? I think a nice reward *cough* our own private tourney *cough* is in order...

Sounds like a great idea. I really hope they have a "challenge" system in place for that arena as well as a "random" one. It would make it really easy. I'm up for a GWG tourney if there's an ideal way of accomplishing it.

Otherwise it may be better to wait until after release and money is less of an issue.

I believe once we find out exactly how it will work, it will be one of the busiest parts of the game. I doubt there will be the ability to challange, how would you identify your opponent in advance? However, a team of 4 will not be too hard to remember if you cross paths with them.
It would be nice if each team was given a number such as 1234D1 where the first 4 digits was a team sequence and 'Dx' was the district number. Since there is a limit to the number of players in a District, the team counter could recycle.

it'll be easier if ArenaNet organizes tournaments like these cos then they can limit the number of players in the arena and award fame points for victory etc...

for a DIY tournament i think it will be quite hard to pull off if you can't choose your opposing team, which i have a feeling will be the case.

having said that, i would be interested in any tournaments GWG decides to hold...

I remember someone saying they'd really like to be able to set up guild against same guild teams, to try and rehearse strategy and stuff. This strikes me as being a REAL good idea, 'cause I have no experience with PVP on any level and anything that can be done to help me learn without commiting any points to winning or loosing would be very nice.
